The Executive Health And Safety Council of BC
Inspiring Transformational Leadership
The BC Safety Charter represents the commitment from industry and organizational leaders to create a workplace culture based on the principle that the effective management of health and safety is essential to long term profitability and sustainability.
The BC Safety Charter was originally created in November 2011, focusing on the manufacturing industry. In 2019, The Executive Health and Safety Council of BC was incorporated, offering opportunities to all industries in British Columbia to learn, teach, and share.
It was identified that safety cultures must be created from the top, with industry leaders taking the initiative to establish cultures of health and safety throughout their industries and in their own companies.
The BC Safety Charter represents the first step in this journey. By committing to the principles enshrined in the Charter, CEO’s and other Senior Executives are setting a standard of excellence and now are actively encouraging other industry leaders to sign the Charter.
Leaders from across the province, and across many industries, meet regularly to address issues surrounding safety culture. These leaders show their commitment by signing the BC Safety Charter and by building strong safety cultures in their organisations.
