AGM and Guest Speaker in recognition of the Day of Mourning – Apr 28, 2022

Join with other members for a “Virtual AGM and Guest Speaker” on Thursday April 28th.  This date is also the Day of Mourning, an important time to remember workplace injuries.  Following the AGM there will be a guest speaker from Threads of Life.

Katie Giesbrecht

Katie Giesbrecht works for an oil and gas company in Alberta as an office administrator and warehouse receiver, and is looking forward to retirement in the next few years.  She lives on an acreage in northern Alberta.

Katie loves being a grandmother to her 9 grandchildren.  She enjoys travel, camping, and quad trips into the forest with family and friends.

Katie’s life was going according to plan until in 2012 a workplace tragedy changed everything. She is here today as a volunteer of the Association for Workplace Tragedy Family Support – known as Threads of Life – and its Speakers Bureau.

Threads of Life helps families affected by a workplace fatality, life-altering injury or occupational disease along their journey of healing. It is currently working with more than 3,200 family members from across Canada.

Everything in Katie’s life changed that fateful day. Here is her story.
